Copilot Just Got Memory – And It Changes Everything!
Sep 03, 2025
If you’ve ever felt frustrated repeating yourself to digital assistants, you’re not alone. Until now, Microsoft 365 Copilot has been a bit like that forgetful friend who never remembers your preferences or past conversations. Each new chat started from scratch, making it less of a true assistant and more of a clever, but forgetful, tool.
That’s all about to change with Copilot Memory.
Copilot Memory is a new feature that allows Copilot to remember details you share across all your conversations. It learns who you work with, your ongoing projects, and your preferred working style. This means every time you use Copilot, it becomes more like a real assistant that understands you and adapts to your needs.
Let’s say you tell Copilot about your writing style or the types of projects you enjoy. Previously, you’d have to repeat this information every time. Now, Copilot stores these preferences. When you start a new conversation, it recalls your style and project interests, saving you time and making your experience more personal. You can view and manage these memories in the Copilot settings menu, where you can update or delete them as your needs change.
-
Personalised Content Creation: If you regularly draft reports, emails, or blog posts, Copilot will remember your tone and style, ensuring consistency across your work.
-
Project Management: Copilot can recall which projects you’re involved in and suggest relevant resources or next steps, making it easier to stay organised.
-
Team Collaboration: By remembering your preferred collaboration style, Copilot can tailor its suggestions to help you work better with colleagues.
-
Onboarding New Team Members: Share key information once, and Copilot will help new starters get up to speed by recalling and sharing relevant details.
You’re always in control of what Copilot remembers. If your preferences change, you can update or delete memories at any time. There’s also a custom instructions feature, allowing you to set specific guidelines for Copilot to follow, such as focusing on professional language or certain topics.
This evolution makes Copilot a true digital assistant. It learns, adapts, and helps you work smarter, not harder. For businesses, this means less time spent on repetitive tasks and more time focusing on what matters.
